Internet in Residence Halls
💻 Who Can Connect
A student or employee accommodated in the TBU halls of residence in Zlín may connect the following to the computer network:

- one personal computer,
- or one laptop.

⚠️ Connecting any other devices without written permission from the network administrator is prohibited.
🔌 What You Need for an Ethernet Connection
The computer or laptop must be equipped with an Ethernet network card with a speed of at least 10/100 Mbit/s and an RJ-45 connector.
Newer computers and laptops usually have a built-in 10/100/1000 Mbit/s network card.
If an older laptop does not have a network port, it is possible to use, for example:

- a USB to LAN or USB to Ethernet adapter,
- or, for older devices, a compatible network card.

⚙️ Connection Settings
The computer must be configured to obtain network settings automatically from the DHCP server.
In the network connection properties, set the following:
✅ Obtain an IP address automatically
✅ Obtain DNS server address automatically
In Windows operating systems, this setting can be found in the network connection properties under the TCP/IP protocol settings.
